UTeach Dallas Early Field Experience Program

UTeach Dallas is the STEM teacher preparation program at the University of Texas at Dallas. this nationally acclaimed program recruits STEM majors into the teaching profession by providing a way fore them to get their teaching certification in their elective hours and the STEM degree at the same time. Local ISDs have been a key part of our program for eleven years, providing mentor teachers for early field experiences in addition to traditional student teacher placements. Our students love representing UTD in local schools and the community outreach provided by teaching hands-on lessons to local students. Teachers need only three years teaching experience and a welcoming heart to participate. They truly help our stuents decide if teaching is the career path they wish to follow in our first few introductory classes. Because of this partnership, local ISD’s have hired over 150 highly qualified STEM teachers in the last several years. Thank you!

When I started as a freshman, I was dead set on going to medical schoo. Two years in I decded there was no way being a doctor would be a fulfilling career option. If UTeach Dallas wasn’t as great as it is, I would be a semester away from graduation with no idea what to do!
