
Pathway to UTeach Dallas Certification
Classroom Interactions
- Hear Apprentice (Clinical) Teaching introduction presentation in class
- MUST have 2.75 cumulative GPA and 3.0 in UTeach courses
- MUST meet with TDC Certification officer and official enroll as a candidate for a teaching certificate, (call to make appt 972-883-2730)*
- *Note: Postbac and graduate students who did not start the UTeach Dallas program as an undergraduate will apply for certification before entering Step 1.
- Provide a copy of the Official Certification Plan from TDC to Mrs. King
Research Methods
- Meet with TDC again if necessary, to receive codes to take PPR & content TExES exams
- Maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 in UTeach courses
- Register for PPR and Content TExES exams for a date by early in the next semester, attend a PPR review session given by TDC or UTeach Dallas, take an online practice exam!
PBI
- Attend an Apprentice (Clinical) Teaching seminar with Dr. McConnell and take professional head-shot for website
- Take PPR and content tests by early in semester, MUST PASS BOTH before enrolling in Apprentice (Clinical) Teaching (AT)
- Maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 in UTeach courses
- Set up student teaching/portfolio website
- Begin to collect materials for portfolio (resume, cover letter, teaching philosophy, etc.)
- Receive placement and complete fingerprinting (end of semester).
Apprentice (Clinical) Teaching
- May ONLY take ONE other course with AT.
- Complete your degree within the GPA requirements!
- Complete FINAL PORTFOLIO!
- Complete Weekly Lesson Plans in a timely fashion.
- Make an A or B in Apprentice (Clinical) Teaching
- Be recommended for certification by your school mentor teacher and university supervisor
